How Back the K9 Ride Started

Back the K9 is the brainchild of Chrysti Peek, who saw a need that could be filled by combining two of her loves — dogs and bikes.

Most of us only experience K9 units out on the streets. We sometimes forget that working dogs are still just dogs. These overgrown puppies love treats, snuggles, and playing with toys (even while wearing their vests).

And while they might be the cutest members of the force, they do vital and dangerous work.

When Chrysti met Christine from Never Forget 9/11, joining forces seemed like a no-brainer! What better way to support the dogs (and the people) who work tirelessly to protect us than a charity motorcycle event?

Back the K9 is a chance to bring awareness to these fluffy first responders, make sure they have the tools they need to stay safe on the job, and put on a really great ride!

And every year just keeps getting bigger and better.

Want to join us in 2020?

Here’s how.

Meet Chrysti Peek

The desire to help and serve is at the heart of everything Chrysti does. It’s why she started Back the K9 in 2018. When she’s not running around after her kids or her rescue dogs, she’s braving the sun and the bugs, riding beside her husband Cliff. A former Marine and current residential real estate agent, Chrysti loves living in Durham and being part of this awesome community!
